HKCIA Hosts Luncheon

Release time:2024-10-25 Views:6524

On 25 October, the HKCIA held a luncheon at Hong Kong. Among the esteemed guests were Mr. Christopher Hui, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of HKSAR government; Mr. Xu Weigang, Head of the Economy Department of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; Mr. Yu Xiao, President of the Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association; Mr. Yang Minggang, Deputy General Manager of China Taiping Insurance Group; and Mr. Lu Qin, CEO of Aon Greater China. Over 70 representatives, including several vice chairmen of the association and senior management from member companies, gathered for the event.

During the luncheon, Mr. Christopher Hui delivered a keynote address, interpreting key policy measures from the 2024 Policy Address by the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau. He highlighted three main areas: Enhance Hong Kong's Status as an International Asset and Wealth Management Centre as well as an International Risk Management Centre; Deepen Mutual Market Access and Enrich Offshore Renminbi Business; Proactively Expand Markets and Deepen Overseas Networks, and Explore New Growth Points.

He noted that Hong Kong is a hub for insurance companies across Asia, with the highest insurance density. The Insurance Authority will consider using capital requirements for infrastructure investments to enrich insurance companies' asset allocations, aiding in risk diversification and driving infrastructure investments in regions like the Northern Metropolis.

Additionally, efforts will continue to attract more domestic and international enterprises to establish captive companies in Hong Kong, further reinforcing its position as an international risk management centre.

The HKCIA expresses gratitude to all guests for their participation and support, and looks forward to hosting more industry exchange activities in the future.
